Mu-law is a companding standard commonly used in the United States. It
takes 14-bit data values and compresses them to eight-bit values.
A-law is the standard used in Europe. It takes 13-bit data values and
compresses them to eight-bit values.
6 Enter the following information in the text fields of this page:
VPI: Enter the VPI (Virtual Path Identifier) value in this field. The VPI

identifies the virtual path over which the ATM cell should be routed.
VCI: Enter the VCI (Virtual Channel Identifier) value in this field. The
I
VCI identifies the virtual channel over which the ATM cell should
travel.
7 Click Apply to save your changes to the Voice page. (If you click Reset, all
changes you made on this page will be deleted, and the fields will be
re-set to their default values.)
8 Click SaveAll on the upper right portion of the menu bar to save your
changes permanently.
