The IPSec Tunneling Protocol (IPSec) is a widely used VPN tunneling
protocol that provides security services at the IP layer by enabling a
system to select required security protocols, determine the algorithm(s) to
use for the service(s), and put in place any cryptographic keys required to
provide the requested services.
To create a VPN tunnel using the IPSec protocol, perform the following
steps:
1 Select Create from the Edit Mode drop-down menu.
2 Enter a name for the VPN Tunnel you want to create in the VPN Name
field.
3 Select IPSEC in the VPN Protocol drop-down menu.
4 Enter the Shared Secret (password) for the VPN Tunnel in the Shared
Secret field.
5 Select an attachment layer (WAN Interface or PPP Profile) for the VPN
tunnel from the Attachment Layer drop-down menu. The VPN
Configuration page will dynamically change based on your selection.
If you selected WAN Interface as your attachment layer, select the
appropriate WAN interface in the Attachment Interface drop-down
menu.
If you selected PPP Profile as your attachment layer, select the appropriate
PPP profile in the Attachment Profile drop-down menu.
A PPP Profile must exist. If you have not created one, the system will
prompt you to create one.
6 Enter the IP address of the Remote Security Gateway in the Remote
Gateway field.
