4.3 Requirements for the protective conductor

3. If you are using a wall-mounted converter, in addition to removing the screw from the
Electronic Module as above, remove another grounding screw from the Wiring Module.
To do so, you must first release the four retaining screws to remove the cover from the
Wiring Module (①). Remove the functional grounding screw marked with the
(②), and install the cover back by tightening the screws (4 x M4 - 2.5 Nm) (③④) to make
sure that the converter and motor can work properly.
You have removed the functional grounding screw(s) from the converter.
4.3
Requirements for the protective conductor
A high leakage current flows through the protective conductor in converter operation. The
protective conductor of the converter must not be interrupted for safe touch protection in
converter operation.
This primarily results in requirements for the minimum conductor cross-section of the
protective conductor.
No restriction applies to the length of the protective conductor for touch protection.
However, short protective conductors are advantageous for EMC-compliant installation.
Electric shock due to interrupted protective conductor
The drive components conduct a high leakage current via the protective conductor.
Touching conductive parts when the protective conductor is interrupted can result in death
or serious injury.
• Comply with the requirements for the protective conductor.
