Modem connection test

Description
This test will verify proper modem connection to the Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-60 shelf.
This test should only be performed if a modem is required.
Procedure
Proceed as follows:

Verify the generic parameters of the modem are set to the following:
Modem Parameters
1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, or 19,200 baud
•
Full duplex
•
8 data bits
•
No parity bits
•
1 start bit
•
1 stop bit
•
No flow control
•
Transparent data mode - ON
•
Direct operating mode - ON
•
Note:
require other options to be set before using the modem. Refer to manufacturer's
manuals for instructions on setting modem parameters.

Verify that the modem cable is properly connected from the modem to J18 MODEM on
the backplane of the Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-60 shelf.
