• To prevent the possibility of damage to the optical block assembly in the optical drive assembly by static electricity
charged in a human body or clothes, be sure to establish a ground before starting the service operation. (Refer to
"1-15. Cautions on Handling the Optical Block
• The spindle motor and the actuator around the objective lens have a powerful magnet. If the magnetic force makes
a screwdriver hit the actuator, the objective lens will be damaged. If a magnetic substance comes close to these
parts, their characteristics may be changed.

Procedure
1. Disconnect the FPC BD-SE1004 from the connector (CN1004) on the SE-1004 board.
2. Disconnect the FPC BD-SE1005 from the connector (CN1005) on the SE-1005 board.

3. Remove the four step screws (DIA. 9) to detach the BU assembly.

4. Disconnect the flexible cable from the connector (CN2) on the SE-1005 board.
