Battery Maintenance
The monitor was shipped from the factory with a fully charged bat
Since the monitor draws some battery power even while turned off, it is rec
mended that the monitor be operated on line power for the first 24 hours t(
low ample time for the battery to fully recharge.
In the case of prolonged periods of storage or shipment the battery
discharge to a point where the unit will not turn on. Should this occur, plu
the line cord, set the switch on the rear panel to the I position, turn the moi
off (ensure that the green ~ LED on the front panel is illuminated), and a
the monitor to charge for 24 hours before switching it on.
To insure maximum battery life and performance, the Model 515 shoul
operated in the battery mode until the low battery indicator lights (line
disconnected) at least once each month. The line cord should then be re
nected and the battery given sufficient time to recharge. The monitor ma;
operated normally on line power while the battery is recharging. Approxin
ly 16 hours are required to fully recharge a discharged battery.
Every six months the battery should be visually inspected for defects
eluding but not limited to, swollen or misshapen sides, leaking battery acid,
posed conductors or frayed insulation. If any of these conditions exist, cor
the Novametrix Service Department for a battery replacement. Replacer
