Moving the preheater key
When the CH-30A is shipped, the preheater key is installed in the upper,
active preheater control port, thus readying the active preheater for use with
a 30-cm column heater and 300-mm (30-cm) column. If you intend to use the
active preheater with shorter tubing and a shorter column, you must move the
preheater key to the lower control port.
Requirements:
Always install the preheater key in the control port not already occupied
by the active preheater.
Do not insert two active preheater assemblies in the CH-30A
simultaneously. The preheater key must always occupy one of the active
preheater control ports for the instrument to function.
The following procedure describes how to move the preheater key.
Required materials
Gloves: clean, powder-free, chemical-resistant
Preheater key assembly (startup kit)
Required tools
Needle-nose pliers
To move the preheater key:
1.
Remove the active preheater assembly from the retainer in the column
compartment.
2.
Using a needle-nose pliers, gently compress the top and bottom of the
active preheater retainer, and withdraw it from the column
compartment.
