10.2.20 Common Command Group

The commands in the common group are defined in the IEEE 488.2-1992 and are independent of the instrument's
functions.

Function
Performs calibration and queries the result.
Syntax
*CAL?
Example
*CAL?
-> 0
Description If the calibration terminates normally, "0" is
returned. If an abnormality is detected, a non-
zero value is returned.
*CLS
Function
Clears the standard event register, extended
event register, and error queue.
Syntax

*ESE
Function
Sets the standard event enable register or
queries the current setting.
Syntax

the register.

Function
Queries the instrument model.
Syntax

Description Returns the manufacturer name, model, serial
number (unused, always 0), and firmware
version.
*OPC
Function
Sets a "1" to the standard event register bit
upon the completion of the specified overlap
command. Because the instrument does not
support overlap commands, the command is
discarded.
