Defrosting:
Excessive frost inside the freezer will decrease cooling efficiency. If frost
build-up is excessive, the freezer will need to be defrosted.
CAUTION: Never use sharp objects, hair dryers, or a heat gun to
defrost the freezer. Damage to the interior of the unit can occur.
To Defrost:
• Turn the thermostat to OFF.
• Remove all food from the freezer.
• Place dry towels inside the freezer to absorb excess water.
• Allow frost to melt.
• When defrosted, remove wet towels and dry the inside of the
freezer.
• Set the thermostat to desired setting.
• Return food to the freezer.
Cleaning:
A good time to clean the freezer is just after defrosting. Clean the inside of
the freezer, using a solution of liquid dish detergent and warm water, as often
as necessary to avoid food odors and mold. Clean both the door gasket and the
inside of the freezer with the soap and water solution. Rinse thoroughly with
clean water and towel dry. After drying, put a thin film of petroleum jelly on
the hinge side of the gasket to keep it soft and prevent rolling.
