E‐ports (expansion ports) connect two full fabric switches to form an inter‐switch
link (ISL). Up to four Fibre Channel ISLs can be established between two full fabric
switches.
Only Fibre Channel port types can be configured as E‐ports. These ports must be
members of a Fibre Channel VLAN. Use the following commands to configure
E‐ports:
CN 4093(config)# system port <port range> type fc
CN 4093(config)# interface fc <port range>
CN 4093(config-if)# type e
To verify the port configuration and operational state, use the following command:
CN 4093(config)# show interface fc information
In a stack of switches, ports on the Master or Backup switches can be configured as
E‐ports.
If different zones were configured on the switches being connected using E‐ports,
the zones merge to establish a consistent zoning policy across the fabric. The zones
on the two switches must belong to any one zoneset.
Note: Zones are added in the merged zoneset only if the zoneset on the individual
switch was active.
