OPTIONAL HEATER-AIR CONDITIONER SYSTEM
ACCESSORIES
operate.
The second, third and
fourth detents respectively pro-
vide low, medium and high blower
speeds regardless of whether the
clutch control switch is open or
closed.
The FAN lever is mechanically
linked to the main vacuum switch
(see Figure 11-78).
Whenever the FAN lever is away
from OFF position vacuum is ap-
plied to #2 port of outside re-
circulated air door diaphragm and
door is partially opened.
3. WARMER Lever -When this
lever is positioned fully to the
left vacuum is applied to the dia-
phragm of the suction throttling
valve and the diaphragm of the
water valve is vented. Under
these conditions, when the air
conditioner is operating, maxi-
mum refrigeration is provided.
Initial movement of the lever to
the right, vents the STV and
thereby reduces the temperature
of air conditioned air. When the
system is not operating as an
air conditioner, no effect is had.
Simultaneously as the STV is
vented, vacuum is applied to the
diaphragm of the water valve and
coolant from the engine is cir-
culated thru the h e a t e r core.
Further movement of the lever to
the right opens the temperature
door via a control cable attached
to the lever.
Regardless of the
position of the Climate Control
lever
(REC, NORM, VENT or
HTR) the air flow will be warmed
proportionate with the travel of
the lever to the right.
4. DEFROST Lever—This lever
is connected to the defroster door

(see Figure 11-74) via a control
cable. As the lever is moved to
the right more and more air will
be directed to the defroster out-
lets provided the system is op-
erating in HTR mode of operation.
b. Trouble Diagnosis—45000,
46000 and 48000 Series
If the air conditioner-heater air
distribution system does not func-
tion properly, first check the vac-
uum hose connections and control
wire adjustments. See Figure
11-78. If this does not correct,
check for vacuum at vacuum dia-
phragms, for proper operation of
vacuum switches and climate con-
trol. See Figures 11-74 through
11-77. Refer to following chart
for other possible causes.
