HOT FIL AIR MASS SENSOR

Mass air flow rate is measured by detection of heat transfer from a hot film probe because the change of
the mass air flow rate causes change in the amount of heat being transferred from the hot film probe
surface to the air flow. The airflow sensor generates a pulse so it repeatedly opens and closes between
the 5V voltage supplied from the engine control module. This results in the change of the temperature of
the hot film probe and in the change of resistance.

During ignition ON , HFM sensor outputs a voltage with respect to the intake
air flow to EMS ECU and is within the range
The measured output voltage of the sensor is less than 0.5 V for 0.5 Second
HFM power supply wire short to ground/open
