Tab. A/6:
System-specific terms and abbreviations (General overview – Part 1)
A-8
The following product and network-specific terms and abbre-
viations are used in this description:
Significance
Create the connection to certain fieldbuses or networks, pass on control
signals to the connected devices or modules and monitor their
functionality
Communication Object Identifiers comprise the function code and address
of the activated fieldbus/network participant (station number, node ID)
Miniature switches; dual-in-line switches usually comprise several switch
elements that can be used to make hardware settings
Device Configuration Files contain additional project data over and above
the content and scope of an Electronic Data Sheet (EDS)
"EDS"
Electronic Data Sheets contain product-specific data, e.g. the bus node
characteristics
see also "DCF"
Manages the characteristics of the various fieldbus/network participants
Hexadecimal numbers are identified by a subscript "H"
Bus node function, also referred to as "fail safe" function; defines the
state assumed by outputs or valves following network or communication
errors, activates for example a reset of the outputs - or alternatively holds
the last state
Input
Input/output, also designated "I/O"
