HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS APPLICABLE FOR THE CUTOFF
PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS
These ear-muff s are equipped with electronics for reproducing ambient sounds, known as the Level Dependent function. Ambient sound is captured by two
externally mounted microphones (Illustration G5) and reproduced by speakers inside the cup at a safe level. The sound is reproduced in stereo to preserve or
improve direction location. This function is intended for use in environments where there is a need to hear ambient sound, such as warning signals, conversation,
traffi c, etc.
FUNCTION KEYS (Illustration G)
On/off (O) (G1)
Switch on the electronics by pressing the key (O). To switch off , press the same key (O) and hold for 2 seconds.
Volume adjustment, (–) (+) (G2)
The ambient sound level is adjusted by pressing the volume keys, down (–) or up (+). When switched on, the volume starts at the same setting as when it was
last switched off . The volume has four fi xed volume settings.
Audio Input (AUX) (G3)
The product has one input, a 3.5 mm stereo socket, for connecting an external audio source such as a communication radio, hunting radio, mobile phone,
CD player, radio, etc. If the audio signal does not exceed 1767 mVrms (rms = root mean square of signal strength), the sound level inside the hearing protector
will not exceed 82 dB(A).

PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS
These ear-muff s are equipped with both an integrated FM Radio receiver and electronics for reproducing ambient sound, known as the Level Dependent
function. Ambient sound is captured by two externally mounted microphones (Illustration G5) and reproduced by speakers inside the cup at a safe level. The
sound is reproduced in stereo to preserve or improve direction location. This function is intended for use in environments where there is a need to hear ambient
sound, such as warning signals, conversation, traffi c, etc.
The Dual can be used in following operational modes: Only Level Dependent, only FM Radio or a mix between Level Dependent and FM Radio. In the mixed
mode you can select the desired balance between Level Dependent and FM Radio.
FUNCTION KEYS (Illustration G)
On/off (O) (G1)
Switch on the electronics by pressing the key (O). To switch off , press the same key (O) and hold for 2 seconds.
Mode selection (G4)
Press the key shortly to change between Level Dependent mode and mixed Level Dependent/FM Radio mode.
HOW TO OPERATE THE UNIT IN LEVEL DEPENDENT MODE
Volume adjustment, (O) (G1)
When entering this mode, the unit always starts at full Level Dependent volume. Adjust the volume by pressing briefl y on (O). The volume has four fi xed volume
settings. When the highest volume setting has been reached, pressing the key again will start the volume from the lowest setting.
HOW TO OPERATE THE UNIT IN MIXED LEVEL DEPENDENT/FM RADIO MODE
Setting the radio station, (+) (–) (G2)
The FM Radio frequency band is 88–108 MHz. Station tuning is automatic. Pressing the desired directional key down (–) or up (+) will tune the radio to the next
station and then stop. A short beep will be heard whenever a key is pressed. A long beep is heard at each end of the frequency band. The FM Radio starts at the
latest used station. This memory is erased when the batteries are replaced.
Adjusting mode - Adjusting the balance between Level Dependent and FM Radio
Press and hold the Mode Selection key (G4) for 3 seconds until two long beeps are heard. Press the (-) key to decrease FM Radio and increase Level Dependent
function. Press the (+) key to increase FM Radio and decrease Level Dependent function. A short beep will be heard whenever a key is pressed. A long beep is
heard at each end point. Pressing shortly again on Mode Selection key (G4) will leave the adjusting mode or if no keys are pressed within 10 seconds the unit will
leave the adjusting mode automatically.
Volume adjustment, (O) (G1)
Adjust the volume of the selected mix by pressing shortly on the (O) key. The volume has four fi xed volume settings. When the highest volume setting has been
reached, pressing the key again will start the volume from the lowest setting.
Frequency Hopping
To hop to the higher end of the frequency band press the (+) and (O) keys simultaneously, and to hop to the lower end press the (–) and (O) keys simultaneously.
Audio Input (AUX) (G3)
The product has one input, a 3.5 mm stereo socket, for connecting an external audio source such as a communication radio, hunting radio, mobile phone,
CD player, radio, etc. If there is a call on the audio input, the FM radio is automatically muted and remains muted until around 5 seconds after the end of the
call. If there is a pause in the call lasting more than 5 seconds, the FM radio setting function will automatically be restored. If the audio signal does not exceed
1767 mVrms (rms = root mean square of signal strength), the sound level inside the hearing protector will not exceed 82 dB(A).
BATTERY-SAVING FUNCTION
To maximise battery life the product is equipped with a battery-saving function. This function automatically switches off the electronics after 4 hours if none of
the keys is pressed during this period. To switch back on, press the key in the middle of the keypad (O). About 2 minutes before automatic switch-off occurs, a
series of beeps will be heard as a warning that the hearing protector is about to be switched off . Press any key to delay switch-off by a further 4 hours.
