CLEANING THE HFA II

REV. B 02/03 PN 51680-1
REV. B 02/03 PN 51680-1
Although the HFA II is designed for continuous operation, it should be turned off
when not used for an extended period of time and covered with the dust cover.
The HFA II should be used in a cool, dry and dust-free setting.
Do NOT connect or disconnect cables while power is on.
Do NOT place any container holding liquid near the instrument.
Do NOT place objects on top of the instrument.
Avoid turning the instrument on and off during the day to preserve the life of the bowl
lamps.
Carl Zeiss Meditec recommends yearly service and maintenance on the HFA II.
Use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner, distilled water or isopropyl alcohol applied to a soft cloth to
clean the surfaces cited below. Clean as often as necessary.
EXTERIOR SURFACE
Never spray cleaner directly on the instrument.
BOWL SURFACE
Take precautions to avoid scratching the bowl surface. Remove all jewelry and be careful of
long fingernails and fingernail polish as these can permanently damage the bowl surface. Wipe
the bowl gently. Excessive rubbing in one area can alter the surface. Avoid getting cleaner
inside fixation targets and on mirrored surfaces.
TOUCH SCREEN
The touch screen may require frequent cleaning to remove finger marks. Never spray cleaner
directly on the screen.
FOREHEAD REST AND CHIN REST
Clean molded surfaces after each patient. If using adhesive chin and headrest papers, replace
them after every patient.
PATIENT RESPONSE BUTTON
Do NOT immerse in water.
