Chapter 11: Upgrading to the AT-SBx31CFC960 Card from the AT-SBx31CFC Card

Guidelines

222
Here are the guidelines to upgrading the AT-SBx3106 Chassis to the AT-
SBx31CFC960 Controller Fabric Card from the older AT-SBx31CFC Card:
This procedure is disruptive to network operations because it requires
powering off the chassis.
The AlliedWareNSP management software comes pre-installed on the
AT-SBx31CFC960 Controller Fabric Card.
The AT-SBx31CFC960 Controller Fabric Card does not support
versions earlier than 6.18.0 of the AlliedWareNSP management
software.
Versions 6.18.0 and later of the AlliedWareNSP management software
are not supported on the AT-SBx31CFC Controller Fabric Card. You
have to use the AT-SBx31CFC960 Controller Fabric Card to upgrade
the chassis to the AlliedWareNSP management software.
You can transfer the configuration file on the AT-SBx31CFC Controller
Fabric Card to the new controller card so that the controller and
Ethernet line cards maintain their configuration settings after the
upgrade. However, you have to edit the configuration file with a text
editor before loading it onto the new controller card.
The text editor used to edit the configuration file must be capable of
handling ACSII text and must not insert any special or hidden
characters into the text file.
Note
The upgrade procedure for the larger AT-SBx3112 Chassis includes
instructions for using the serial number to determine the version of
the backplane in the unit. The step is necessary because not all
backplanes in that chassis support two operational AT-
SBx31CFC960 Controller Fabric Cards, simultaneously. That step is
not required for the AT-SBx3106 Chassis. The backplanes in all AT-
SBx3106 Chassis support two AT-SBx31CFC960 Controller Cards.
