Troubleshooting
Evaporator Temperature Sensor
Recirculation indicator light
indicates
Diagnostic Trouble Code (OTC) 3: A problem
in
the
evaporator temperature
sensor
circuit.
The
evaporator
temperature sensor
is a
temperature
dependent
resistor (thermistor). The resistance
of
the thermistor
decreases
as
the evaporator outlet air temperature increases.
Self-diagnosis circuit check indi-
cates a problem in the evapora-
tor temperature sensor circuit.
Check the evaporator tempera-
ture
senior:
1.
Dis

nnect the evaporator
temperature
sensor

nector.
2.
Measure
the
resistance
between
the No.
,
and
No.2
terminals of the
ev
aporator
temperature
sensor.
Is
the
resista
nce
within
the
speci-

fications shown on the
graph.

Check for a short
in the
wire:
1.
Remove the heater
control
panel
(see
page
22-46).
2.
Check for continuity
between
the No.2 terminal
of
the
heater control
panel 20P
con-
nector and body ground
.
