Troubleshooting
OTC 4-1 and OTC 4-2
CAUTION: Whenever the ignition switch is ON
(II),
or
has been turned OFF for less than three minutes, be
careful not to bump the SRS unit; the airbags could
accidentally deploy and cause damage or injuries.
Try to reproduce the SRS indicator light:
1.
Erase the OTe memory (see page 24-28).
2. Turn the ignition switch ON
(11),
and check that the SRS
indicator light comes on for about six seconds, and then
goes off.
Does the SRS indicator light stay on?
YES
NO

Intermittent failure. system is OK at this time. See )

Check
for an open in
the front passenger's seat belt tensionsr:
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable, and wait for three
minutes.
2. Disconnect the front passenger's seat belt tensioner 2P
connector from the right side wire harness 2P connector
(see page 24-23). Do not disconnect the driver's seat belt
tensioner 2P connector.
3. Connect the special tool (2
m
to the right side wire har-
ness 2P connector.
4. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
5.
Erase the
OTC
memory (see page 24-28).
6.
Read the
OTC
(see page 24-26).
Is DTC 4-1 or DTC 4-2 indicated?
YES
NO
Open or increased resistance in the front passenger's
seat belt tensioner; replace the front passenger's seat
belt (see page 24-3).
