Basic Administration Protocols

This chapter describes basic administration tasks including:
Event Logging
– Sets conditions for logging event messages to system memory
or flash memory, configures conditions for sending trap messages to remote
log servers, and configures trap reporting to remote hosts using Simple Mail
Transfer Protocol (SMTP).
Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP)
information about the local switch, or discovery of information about
neighboring devices on the local broadcast domain.
Power over Ethernet
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
management through SNMPv1, SNMPv2c or SNMPv3.
Remote Monitoring (RMON)
or events which can be subsequently retrieved through SNMP.
Time Range
– Sets a time range during which various functions are applied,
including applied ACLs or PoE
Loopback Detection (LBD)
hardware problems or faulty protocol settings.
