6.4 Printhead Cleaning

When defective ejections or non-ejection of ink occur due to fixing of ink, this printer can recover nozzles from
the condton by usng three types of postve pressure cleanng operatons that are descrbed below.
* Usually, "Auto Cleanng" s recommended to perform postve pressure cleanng.
● Auto Cleanng
● Auto Cleanng (Heavy)
● Manual Cleanng
6.4.1 Auto Cleaning
Ths functon executes postve pressure cleanng forcedly from the nk pump to the prntheads to recover
nozzles from defective ejections or non-ejection of ink. This function is effective for recovering nozzles from
fixing of ink.
Use the followng steps to perform ths functon.
(1) Select [3.Cleanng Tool] from the man menu by usng [▲▼] (Up/Down) keys, and press the [ENTER] key.

(2) Select [5.Clean] from the sub menu by usng [▲▼] (Up/Down) keys, and press the [ENTER] key.

(3) A "Busy" message s dsplayed on the LCD, and automatc postve pressure cleanng s performed n the
followng sequences.
(1) The nk pump s operated automatcally for several seconds to execute postve pressure cleanng
forcedly on the prntheads.
(2) After a watng perod of several seconds (the operatons stop), an automatc roller cleanng operaton
wipes out the excessive ink on the surface of nozzles.
(3) Firing is executed, and the operation finishes.
See "6.6 Changng the Frng Volume (the amount of empty ejectons)" descrbed later to change the
settng of the amount of empty ejectons for the Frng.
(4) Performs a Jam Test to check the condition of nozzles.
=>Select [2.Jam Test] from the sub menu by usng [▲▼] (Up/Down) keys, and press the [ENTER] key.

(5) If many defective ejections or non-ejection of ink are still identified, perform a positive pressure cleaning again.
