4.10.3 Configuring a Port

Use the
Port
tab to view and configure MST port parameters, including enabling/disabling the spanning tree
algorithm on one or more ports (displaying the designated bridge and port/root information).
To view and configure MSTP port details:

Port
tab displays the following information (ensure you scroll to the right to view the numerous port
variables described):
Index
Admin MAC Enable
Oper MAC Enable
AutoEdge
Designated Bridge
Guard Root

tab
Displays the port index.
Displays the status of the Admin MAC. Change the status using the
green check mark indicates the Admin MAC Enable status is active/enabled.
This field displays the status of the Oper MAC Enable. You can change the status
using the
Edit
button. A green check mark indicates the Oper MAC Enable status is
active/enabled.
Displays whether the port is configured as an operational edge port.
Displays the ID of the bridge sent the best BPDU received on this port.
Displays whether the listed port index enforces root bridge placement. The guard
root ensures the port is a designated port. Typically, each guard root port is a
designated port, unless two or more ports (within the root bridge) are connected
together. If the bridge receives superior (BPDUs) on a guard root-enabled port, the
guard root moves the port to a root-inconsistent STP state. This state is equivalent
to a listening state. No data is forwarded across the port. Thus, the guard root
enforces the root bridge position.
