Dimming an image
The on-screen digitizing and detail editing tools may not be visible when moved over dark
colored images. For this reason, you may want to dim the image. Turn on Dim All Images in
View menu or the Tools > Options >Images tab to reduce the intensity of all images in your
design. The default dim intensity is 50% and can be changed on the Images tab.
Tip: To dim only a selected image or images, use the Dim Image check box in the Image Fill
dialog box.
Changing the resolution
The Thumbnail group box in the Images tab of the Tools > Options dialog box allows you to
change the view of all images in the job to Low, Medium, or High Resolution and to change the
Bits per Pixel in a range of 1 to 24. The Resolution and Bits settings affect how the images
display on your monitor and print on paper. They do not affect how images output to a vinyl
printer.
Low Resolution results in faster screen redrawing. High Resolution displays the original image
not scaled (all dots are shown on the screen). It offers a more accurate appearance, but it
increases file size and slows down screen redrawing. If a bitmap is extremely large, it may not
display at high resolution and appears as a box with an X in it.
Tip: You can change the Resolution and Bits per Pixel of a specific image through Image Fill.
Select the image and click Image Fill to open the Image Fill dialog box. In the Thumbnail group
box you can change the Resolution and Bits per Pixel. Changing the Thumbnail image in this
dialog box affects only the selected image.
