Technical Information
4.3.1
Water Intake
Water is taken into the machine along the following path: solenoid valve
(Item 4), water mixer (Item 2), water storage pocket (Item 3), water
softener (Item 7), to the sump (Item 14). This is soft water.
At the water mixer (Item 2), some water splashes and is diverted to the
cabinet via the opening (Item 18). This is hard water which makes up
approx. 5% of the water in the cabinet.
The water mixer (Item 2) contains an air gap of 2 cm which acts as a non-
return valve to comply with water authority requirements.
4.3.2
Wash Water Circulation Paths
The circulation pump (Item 9) takes in water from the sump (Item 14) and
pumps it through two separate paths.
One path leads to the upper spray arm and then drops via a funnel to the
central spray arm (Item 15). The other path leads to the lower spray arm
(Item 16).
Water returns to the sump (Item 14) via a triple filter system and hence to
the circulation pump (Item 9) again.
4.3.3
Drainage Path
Water from the sump (Item 14) is pumped by the drain pump (Item 8) via
a non-return ball valve (Item 12) to the drain outlet (Item 11). The non-
return valve also serves as an odor trap.
4.3.4
The Water Softener System
During the reactivation program cycle, a solenoid valve on the salt
container (Item 6) is operated. This releases water collected in the
storage pocket (Item 3) which then passes through the salt container
(Item 6) taking up salt on the way and flows to the water softener (Item 7).
The salt solution passed through the softener system by gravity flow and
any overflow collects in the sump (Item 14) and is drained off.
