Remove the connecting rod cap nuts.
Using a plastic-faced hammer, lightly tap the con-
necting rod bolts and lift off the rod connecting cap.
Keep the lower bearing insert with the connecting
Cover the connecting rod bolts with a short piece of
hose to protect the crankshaft from damage.
(e)
Clean each crank pin and bearing.
(f)
Check each crank pin and bearing for pitting and
scratches.
If the crank pin or bearing are damaged, replace the bear-
ings. If necessary, replace the crankshaft
(g)
Lay a strip of Plastigage across the crank pin.
(h)
Install the connecting rod. (See page EM-52)
Torque:
5 0 0 kg-cm (36 ft-lb, 49 N-m)
NOTE:
Do not turn the crankshaft.
