3.4 Inserting the SIM card and SD card
Formatting an SD card or SMC
When formatting an SD card or an SMC that has already been used, note that all the data on
the card is deleted when you format.
● Formatting a standard SD card
If the card is not formatted in the file format FAT32, format the card as described in the
manual of the card or the card reader.
● Use of an SMC
An SMC must not be formatted like a standard SD card otherwise it cannot be used. You
will find instructions on repairing and formatting on the pages of the Siemens Industry

Inserting the SIM card
Recommendation: Insert the SIM card in the RTU before you install it. After installing and
connecting up the answer you, the space for inserting the SIM card may be very restricted.
Before inserting or changing the SIM card make sure that the power supply is turned off.

Execution
Release the slide for the SIM card on the
bottom of the RTU by gently pressing the
release pin beside the slot " SIM".
Remove the slide from the housing.
Insert the SIM card in the slide as illustrated.
Push the slide back into the housing, where
it locks gently in place.
