5.8.1
Counters
Function
The block counts the positive edges at the input parameter "Trigger".
Only via the input parameter "Reset", is the counter reset to 0 or the Initial value.
If the output should not start at the value 0, you can specify a different start value using the
function parameter "Initial value".
With the "Direction" function parameter you specify the count direction:
● Incremental (forwards)
● Decremental (backwards)
The current total counted value is output at the "Counted value" output as an unsigned 32-bit
value.
Using the function parameter "Turn on threshold", the value for the counted value can be
configured and when it is overshot or undershot, the output "Counter status" is set.

The block counts the positive edges (0 → 1) at the input
STATUS_ERROR
and outputs the total (including the Initial value) at the
output.
Inverted parameter:
The block counts the negative edges (1 → 0) at the input
and outputs the total (including the Initial value) at the
output.
True / False
Resets the counter to 0 or the Initial value on a positive
edge (0 → 1).
Digital input / output /
bit memory
With the setting "True" the counter is continuously reset
and the output remains permanently set to 0 or the initial
STATUS_ERROR
value.
With the setting "Input unused" or "False", the count is
not reset.
