4.20 Telecontrol
If the telecontrol server is unreachable, the RTU repeats its attempts to establish a
connection to the telecontrol server.
● Connection establishment delay
The parameter decides the intervals between attempts to establish the connection if the
partner is unreachable. The parameter is set permanently to 10 seconds. This value
counts as a basic value for the waiting time before the next connection establishment
attempt.
The number of connection establishment attempts depends on the parameter "Always
remain connected" that is configured in the settings of the operating mode.
– Parameter "Always remain connected" enabled
– Parameter "Always remain connected" disabled
● Send timeout
Time for the arrival of the acknowledgment from the communications partner (telecontrol
server) after sending spontaneous data. The time is started after sending a spontaneous
data frame. If no acknowledgement has been received from the partner when the
connection monitoring time elapses, the data frame is repeated up to three times. After
three unsuccessful attempts, the connection is terminated and re-established.
The parameter is set permanently to 30 seconds.
● Key exchange interval
This is the interval in hours after which the key is exchanged again between the RTU and
the communications partner (TCSB). The key is a security function of the protocol
"TeleControl Basic" used by the RTU and TCSB.
The parameter is set permanently to 1 hour.
● Discard events as long as the time of day is invalid.
If the option is enabled the values of data points configured as an event will be discarded
until the time of day of the RTU is synchronized or set.
This may be the case, for example, during startup of the RTU.

Starting at the basic value of 10 seconds, the current waiting time is doubled after
every 3 unsuccessful retries up to a maximum value of 900 s.
This results in the following waiting times for connection establishment attempts:
Three times 10 s
Three times 20 s
Three times 40 s
Three times 80 s
etc. up to max. 900 s
If the option "Always ready to receive" is disabled, within a basic cycle a maximum of
three connection establishment attempts with a fixed waiting time of 10 seconds are
performed.
