Context

Description
This command defines the method used by the system to derive the operational CIR and PIR settings
when the meter is provisioned in hardware. For the CIR and PIR parameters, individually the system
attempts to find the best operational rate depending on the defined constraint.
The no form of the command removes any explicitly defined constraints used to derive the opera-
tional CIR and PIR created by the application of the policy. When a specific adaptation-rule is
removed, the default constraints for rate and cir apply.

Parameters
adaptation-rule — Specifies the adaptation rule to be used while computing the operational CIR or
pir — Defines the constraints enforced when adapting the PIR rate defined within the meter meter-id
cir — Defines the constraints enforced when adapting the CIR rate defined within the meter rate
max — The max (maximum) option is mutually exclusive with the min and closest options. When
min — The min (minimum) option is mutually exclusive with the max and closest options. When
closest — The closest parameter is mutually exclusive with the min and max parameter. When

Description
This command provides a mechanism to override the default CBS for the meter. The committed burst
size parameter specifies the maximum burst size that can be transmitted by the source while still com-
plying with the CIR. If the transmitted burst is lower than the CBS value then the packets are marked
as in-profile by the meter to indicate that the traffic is complying meter configured parameters.

deriving the operational PIR for the meter. When the rate command is not specified, the default
applies.

max is defined, the operational PIR/CIR will be the next multiple of that is equal to or lesser than
the specified rate.
min is defined, the operational PIR/CIR will be the next multiple of 8 kbps that is equal to or
higher than the specified rate.
closest is defined, the operational PIR/CIR will be the next multiple of 8 kbps that is closest to
the specified rate.
