ASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENT
Example:
If M is "24.47 mm", then
T2 = 24.47 – 24 + 5/100
= 0.52 mm
Available shim thickness:
0.10, 0.12, 0.15, 0.18, 0.30, 0.40
and 0.50 mm
NOTE:
9 Use a minimum number of shims to obtain the
thickness equal or nearly equal to the calculation.
9 Install the shims with the thicker one on the outer
side.

BACKLASH

1) Place the forward gear in the gear case, insert
the drive shaft from the water pump side and
pinion on the drive shaft, then tighten the nut.
Pinion nut:
36 Nm (3.6 m·kg, 25 ft·lb)
2) Install the reverse gear shim(s) in the gear
case, and install the bearing housing, together
with the propeller shaft, in the gear case.
Align the keyways in the gear case and bearing
housing, and fit the key.
3) Install the ring nut and tighten to specification.
Ring nut:
90 Nm (9.0 m·kg, 65 ft·lb)
