Mass Air Flow and Intake Air Temperature Sensor

9. Mass Air Flow and Intake Air

Temperature Sensor

1) Disconnect the ground cable from battery.

2) Disconnect the connector from the mass air flow

and intake air temperature sensor, and remove the

mass air flow and intake air temperature sensor.

B: INSTALLATION

Install in the reverse order of removal.

Tightening torque:

1 N·m (0.1 kgf-m, 0.7 ft-lb)

C: INSPECTION

1. CHECK THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR

1) Disconnect the ground cable from battery.

2) Remove the mass air flow and intake air temper-

ature sensor. <Ref. to FU(H4DOTC)-39, REMOV-

AL, Mass Air Flow and Intake Air Temperature

3) Connect terminal No. 3 to the battery positive

terminal and terminal No. 4 to the battery ground

terminal, terminal No. 5 to the circuit tester positive

terminal and No. 4 to the circuit tester ground termi-

4) Check the voltage changes when air is blown to

the mass air flow sensor unit in arrow direction.

2. CHECK THE INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE

Measure the resistance between intake air temper-

ature sensor terminals.

–20°C (–4°F)

60°C (140°F)

3. OTHER INSPECTIONS

Check the mass air flow and intake air temperature

sensor for damage or dirt.
