Problem
Uneven colors are seen or low
contrast image is seen in the DIC
microscopy.
No sensitive color is seen in the
DIC microscopy or the polarization
microscopy.

Electrical System Problems

Problem
The lamp does not light even
though the power switch is turned
on.
The lamp flickers, or its brightness
is unstable.
The brightness control dial does
not function.
The address for the objective is
not displayed.
Chapter 5 Troubleshooting
Cause
A wrong objective is used.
The orientation of the polarizer is wrong.
Dust exists on the objective, the condenser or
the sample.
The combination of the objective and the DIC
prism is wrong.
No λ plate is placed in the optical path.
Cause
No power cord is plugged in. Or, the power
cord is not connected securely.
No lamp is attached.
The lamp is blown.
A wrong lamp is used.
The lamp is about to blow.
The power cord or the cable of the lamphouse
is not connected securely.
The lamp is not securely inserted into the
socket.
The lamphouse is not connected securely.
Internal/External brightness control
changeover switch is set to ON (external
mode).
Cable is not connected.

Countermeasure
Place an appropriate objective into the optical
path.
Adjust the orientation of the polarizer correctly.
Clean it. (Pay great attention to dust for the DIC
microscopy.)
Place the DIC prism suitable for the objective
into the optical path.
Place it into the optical path.
Countermeasure
Connect the power cord correctly.
Attach a lamp.
Replace the lamp with a new one.
Use the specified lamp.
(Refer to "7. Specifications.")
Replace the lamp with a new one.
Connect the power cord and the lamphouse
cable securely.
Insert the lamp securely.
Connect the lamphouse securely.
Set the Internal/External brightness control
changeover switch to OFF (internal mode).
Securely connect the cable.
