image acquisition speed by
reducing the size of the active
area in the definition. The
result will be faster but lower
resolution data acquisition.
Operating in this mode would
ordinarily require that the chip
be masked so that only the
reduced active area is exposed.
This will prevent unwanted
charge from spilling into the
active area or being transferred
to the shift register.

By default, if there are no
Pre-Dummy rows, the serial register will be cleared before rows are shifted. If the Skip
Serial Register Clean box is selected when there are no Pre-Dummy rows, the register
cleanout will be skipped and the chip readout will be faster. This feature is not available
for PVCAM-supported cameras.
Note: In LightField, the Clean Serial Register function only appears in the Sensor
Cleaning pane when the Inactive Area Top Margin has been set to 0 rows. Deselect the
check box to deactivate the serial register cleaning.
Custom Timing
Note: This mode is standard with LightField for a ProEM+ full frame EMCCD camera
(2)
such as the ProEM+:1600
.
In LightField, Custom Timing is accessed via the Custom Sensor button on the
Sensor expander. In the Custom Timing panel, you can select from among the listed
vertical shift rate choices (see Figure 62). Vertical shift rate is the time required to shift
one row into the serial register. The smaller the value, the faster charge will be shifted up
one row at a time toward the serial register. In WinX, the equivalent function is located
on the Camera/Controller tab on the Hardware Setup dialog (see Figure 63).
