Installing an Intel Management Module
(IMM)
The optional Intel Management Module (IMM) provides enhanced levels of server
functionality over the standard baseboard management controller (BMC). Several
additional features become available with the IMM installed, including redundant
hot-swap chassis fans, and the local control panel (LCP).

When the IMM module is initially installed in your server, the server
will not boot correctly. To correct this situation, you must force a BMC
firmware update. A boot block firmware update must also be done.

If Gateway Server Manager (GSM) software is installed, delete the
password (if one has been set) and uninstall the GSM software prior
to installing the IMM module.
