Power supplies

The Gateway 930 Series uses a redundant power supply offering fault tolerance
and hot-swap capability. This section describes replacing the power supply and
also describes the procedure for hot-swapping a power supply module.

Replacing a redundant power supply module

If one of the two power supply modules fails, the other module can support
the system while the failed module is replaced. An unlit power supply LED
indicates a failed module. See "Front panel" on page 2 for the location and
complete information on the function of the power supply status LEDs. You
do not have to turn off the system to replace the failed module.
To replace a failed power supply module:
1
Determine which power supply module has failed. The module power
LED (on the back of the power supply modules) turns off when the
module fails.
2
Loosen the thumbscrew that secures the power supply module to the back
panel.
