Replacing the hot-swap backplane

Your server may have a single hot-swap cage (standard) that can hold six SATA drives, or
two hot-swap cages (optional) that can hold six and four SCSI drives, respectively. Each
hot-swap cage is connected to a backplane. The pictures in this procedure show replacing
the upper backplane. The other backplane (optional) can be installed or replaced in the
same manner.
To replace the hot-swap backplane:

Remove the fan nearest the backplane (if installed). For instructions, see

Remove each of the drives from the hot-swap cage, and note the location of each

If you are installing a new, four-drive SCSI hot-swap cage, remove the screw securing
the drive bay door to the chassis, then remove the door. Go to
