Quickly Navigating Drop-Down Lists

The space key is also great at moving you down to the next item in a list. In a minute
field, for example, pressing Space jumps to the next 15 minutes. In an hour field, you
jump to the next hour, and in a month field, you jump to the next month. In any other
type of field, pressing the space key jumps you to the next entry.
Give it a try.
1. Click on your Calendar icon.
2. Open up a new calendar event by clicking the trackpad anywhere in
Day view.
3. Glide down to the month and press Space. Notice you advance one
month.
4. Glide over to the hour and press Space. You advance one hour.
5. Finally, glide to the minutes and press Space. Notice that you move 15
minutes forward.
These great tricks let you quickly reschedule calendar events.

Using Letter Keys to Select Items in Lists and Menus

You can use the letter keys on your keyboard to instantly jump to the first item
matching either letter on the key (if there are two letters), or to jump to a matching
menu item, or to a matching item in a list (like the long list that appears when you press
the Options icon).

Using Number Keys to Type Dates and Times

You can use the number keys on your keyboard to instantly type a new date or time or
to select an entry in a drop-down list with that number.
Examples include:
Typing 40 in the minute field to set the minutes to 40;
Typing 9 in the hour field to get to 9 AM or PM.
This also works in fields where drop-down list items start with numbers, as in the
Reminder field in calendar or tasks. Typing a 9 immediately jumps you to the 9 Hours
setting.
