Using the Spell Checker

Your BlackBerry comes with a built-in spell checker. Normally, the spell checker is
turned o n t o check everything y ou t ype---- - you see the little dots underlining questionable
entries as you type on your BlackBerry. The underlining goes away when the spell
checker matches your words with those in the dictionary. However, spell check is not on
by default for outgoing email messages, so you'll have to turn it on if you want them
checked.
If your mistakes are not auto-corrected with the AutoText feature (see page 163),
the spell checker can help you quickly correct many typing or spelling errors. When
your BlackBerry finds what it thinks is a misspelled word, it underlines it as shown in
Figure 6-4.
Figure 6-4. The Blackberry's spell checker underlines words it thinks are misspelled.
To correct one of these words, glide the cursor back into the word with the trackpad
and click. As Figure 6-5 shows, you'll see a list of suggestions and you can just glide to
and click on the correct word. If the word is spelled correctly and you want to add the
word to your custom dictionary, press the Menu key and select Add to Dictionary.
You'll see more on the custom dictionary in Figure 6-6.
