Enter a Phone Number with Pauses or Waits
Sometimes you need to dial a phone number
that has several components, such as a dial-in
number and a separate password. One
example is a voice mail system for your home
or office phone number. Let's say you had to
dial an 800 number, wait 4 seconds, then your
own number, wait 2 seconds, then your own
password. You can do it all with pauses or
waits. A pause is a 2 second pause then it
continues dialing, a wait will wait for you to
manually click a button before continuing
dialing.
So to enter 1-800-555-1234, pause 4 seconds,
386-506-8224, pause 2 seconds, and enter your
password 12345, you would follow these steps:
1. Type in 1-800-555-1234.
2. Press the Menu key.
3. Select Add Pause (2 seconds).
4. Press the Menu key and select
Add Pause (2 more seconds)
again.
5. Type 386-506-8224.
6. Press the Menu key and select
Add Pause.
7. Finally type your password 12345.
When you're done, the screen should look
similar to this.
TIP: Try adding several pauses in a row or use
Add wait if a single pause does not work.
