Replacing The Software Cartridge

Upgrading software in the digital telephone system consists of removing the current software
cartridge and exchanging it with a board containing updated software.
To avoid any chance of electrostatic discharge damage to the softtware cartridge, avoid
touching the connector with your fingers while handling it. Be sure to disconnect the AC
power and battery back up to the base unit before installing or removing a software cartridge.
To remove a cartridge,
1. Place the end of a flat-blade screwdriver into the removal notch. Lift up on the cartridge with
the screwdriver to un-mate the connections.
2. Slide the cartridge out of the base unit.
NOTE: Only replacement software designed for a particular cabinet may be put in that
cabinet. Example: Only 408 software will work in the 408 cabinet.
To install a cartridge,
1. Orient the cartridge so that the connector end is toward the base unit opening. The removal
notch, located at the top rear of the cartridge, should point to the front of the base unit.
2. Gently insert the cartridge into the base unit cabinet until it seats into place. Press down on
the cartridge to secure the connection.
