OmniTouch Fax Server System Administrator Guide - 8AL_90215_USAA ed.01
"Base: The search is limited to the object identified by the Search
Base. For this scope to be useful, the Search Base should point to a
specific object, e.g.
cn=Administrator,cn=users,dc=mycompany,dc=com.
"One Level: The search is limited to the objects immediately below
the Search Base.
"Sub: The search is made against the whole subtree beginning with
the Search Base. Sub is the typical value.
The Search Filter is the key to locating a specific user object. It is
used to filter all the objects found in the containers covered by the
Search Base and Search Scope settings. The filter uses a specific
LDAP syntax ([insert web reference here]) that restricts the
selection of objects based on their Attributes. An Active Directory
user object has many different Attributes. Typically, however, you
will want to match the Active Directory Attribute containing the
user's SMTP Address with the SMTP Address obtained by OmniTouch
Fax Server. In Active Directory, this Attribute is called mail. To tell
OmniTouch Fax Server that you want to use a specific Input Attribute
in a Search Filter, you must place this Attribute between dollar signs
($). The OmniTouch Fax Server Attribute that corresponds to the
user's SMTP Address is SmtpAddress.
For example, a filter that searches for the Active Directory object
with a mail Attribute corresponding to the user requesting entry on
the system is (mail=$SmtpAddress$); the parentheses are important.
Also, when searching for user objects in the Active Directory,
Microsoft highly recommends adding objectClass=user and
objectCategory=person to the filter as this will optimize the search.
The recommended Search Filter would therefore be:
(&(objectClass=user)(objectCategory=person)(mail=$SmtpAddress$)).
The Attributes tab serves to map Attribute Names used by the
system. Each Attribute Name is mapped to an Active Directory
Attribute, which is yielded by the execution of a query by the
system. The default mapping provided is based on the assumption
that your directory is an Active Directory. Mapping to your Active
Directory gives you the flexibility of pointing to custom or predefined
fields in your Active Directory.
Change the default mapping for a specific Attribute Name
1 In the Built-in Attributes section, select the specific Attribute Name.
2 Click the Properties button, or double-click on the Attribute Name.
3 Select the chosen mapping option from the Name in Directory drop
down list or enter the LDAP display name of the Active Directory
Attribute to which you want to map.
