Adding number modification entries

OmniTouch Fax Server System Administrator Guide - 8AL_90215_USAA ed.01
Such modifications would be necessary when a database or user
address book of fax numbers contains area codes, as well as the
seven-digit fax number. When local calls are made, it would be
necessary to strip the area code from the number. Other calls might
require the addition of a prefix to obtain an outside line, or a code
appended to the fax number to permit long-distance dialing. Should
an external fax recipient change their fax number, number
modification can be used to ensure that the new number is dialed
even when users have not replaced the old fax number in their
address books.
Number modification first specifies a fax number or number pattern,
a condition, and the expected number of digits. The second
component specifies an action, that is, the modification to be
applied to the number or pattern. Modifications can remove digits,
insert digits, or replace digits. They can also specify the number of
digits involved, and an offset. The offset instructs OmniTouch Fax
Server to begin the modification at a specific location in the number
or pattern. For example, removing the area code would require
beginning the modification at the first number, an offset of zero.
Should a new area code come into effect, offset might instruct
OmniTouch Fax Server to ignore a long distance code and begin at the
second number; an offset of one.
Offsets can begin at the first digit in the pattern or at the last.
Note: To apply number modifications to specific drivers, refer to
Modification table on page 78.
