An overview of the capacity upgrade process
1.
Install the capacity upgrade hardware - six hot-plug disks - into the HP D2D Backup System.
2.
Make sure you know both the HP entitlement order number (found in this kit) and the product
serial number (found on the label on the top of the unit or from the Web Management Interface).
3.
Go to the HP Licensing website at
This creates a unique LTU (License to Use) as an alphanumeric string. The option of saving the
LTU as a .DAT file is recommended. The file can also be emailed to the registered license
owner's email address.
4.
Go to the Licensing page on the HP D2D's Web Management Interface and enter the LTU,
preferably by uploading the saved .DAT file.
5.
The RAID automatically expands to incorporate the new disks. This can take some time to
complete. However, you can still use the HP D2D Backup System while the process is completing;
the other disks continue to function normally. All existing loaders and data are preserved
during the process.
6.
Once the RAID has been expanded reboot the HP D2D Backup System. No further configuration
is required.
Installing the upgrade kit
