3. Adjusting the Tension of the Scanner Drive
Cable
After routing the scanner drive cable, be sure
to perform the following to adjust its tension:
1) Remove the two mounting screws, and remove
the upper left cover.
2) Loosen the fixing screw of the tension spring
bracket.
3) Turn the tension adjusting screw so that the
distance a in Figure 4-205 is as indicated.
1.0 ±0.5 mm if the cable has been replaced.
0.5 to 3.5 if the cable has been in service.

Reference:
Turning the adjusting screw clockwise
increases the distance a, thereby increas-
ing the tension.
Caution:
1.Check to make sure that the scanner
drive cable is not twisted or it has not rid-
den over the pulley.
2.Move the No. 1 mirror mount and the No.
2 mirror mount by hand to make sure that
they move smoothly. At this time, be care-
ful not to touch the deflecting plate.
