Troubleshooting Processors

support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered
by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the
product.
1 Turn off the sled and attached peripherals.
2 Remove the sled from the enclosure. See "Removing a Sled" on page 141.
3 Open the sled. See "Removing the Front and Back Sled Covers" on
page 161 or "Removing the Sled Cover" on page 166.
4 Remove the cooling shroud. See "Removing the Cooling Shroud" on
page 210.
5 Ensure that each heat sink is properly installed. See "Installing a Heat
Sink" on page 214.
6 Ensure that each processor is properly installed. See "Installing a Processor"
on page 217.
7 Replace the cooling shroud. See "Installing the Cooling Shroud" on
page 211.
8 Close the sled. See "Installing the Front and Back Sled Covers" on
page 165 or "Installing the Sled Cover" on page 168.
9 Reinstall the sled into the enclosure. See "Installing a Sled" on page 142.
10 Turn on the sled and attached peripherals.
11 If the problem persists, turn off the sled and attached peripherals.
12 Remove the sled from the enclosure. See "Removing a Sled" on page 141.
13 Open the sled. See "Removing the Front and Back Sled Covers" on
page 161 or "Removing the Sled Cover" on page 166.
14 Remove the cooling shroud. See "Removing the Cooling Shroud" on
page 210.
15 Remove processor 2. See "Removing a Processor" on page 215.
16 Replace the cooling shroud. See "Installing the Cooling Shroud" on
page 211.
