Creating a DHCP Server Object

Creating a Subnet Object

You use the DNS/DHCP Management Utility to create and set up a DHCP
Server object. A DHCP Server object can be created or located under any of
the following objects:
Organization (O)
Organization Unit (OU)
Country (C)
Locality (L)
To create and set up a DHCP server object, complete the following steps:

Click DHCP Management > DHCP Server Management to open the
DHCP Server Management window in the main panel.

Select Create Server from the drop-down menu > click OK to open the
Create DHCP Server window.

Enter the name of the server or browse to select it.

Click Create.
A message indicates that the new DHCP Server Object has been created.
You use the DNS/DHCP Management Utility to create and set up a DHCP
Subnet object for each of the subnets to which you will assign addresses.
To create and set up a Subnet object, complete the following steps:

Click DHCP Management > Subnet Management to open the Subnet
Management window in the main panel.

Select Create Subnet from the drop-down menu > click OK to open the
Create Subnet window.

Enter a unique subnet name.

Select the eDirectory context where the new subnet record will be stored.

Enter a subnet address, a subnet mask, and the name of a default DHCP
server in the fields provided.
The default DHCP server field designates the principal DHCP server for
a subnet. This server is assigned all address ranges created under the
