Prescription for a Safe Use of the System

The parts of MATRIX CUBE (MCC) system which may cause an exposure to the hazards listed on Harmonized Standard
EN ISO 12100:2010 - Safety of machinery - General principles for design - Risk assessment and risk reduction are the
following:
-
The electrical box on board of the creel, due to the presence of harmful voltages (110-240 VAC single-phase)
-
The DIAPER FEEDER devices due to the rotation of elastic yarn feeding motor
-
The creel stability in case of configuration with 4 or more individual stacked modules.
The spool-holder carriages. Mechanical hazards (crushing, shock, etc) during the carriage re-insertion operation
-
inside the creel structure
The safety measures to be adopted by the users are then the following:
The access to the inside of electrical box shall be allowed exclusively to skilled and authorized
maintenance staff.
Prior to open the electrical box, always turn off the main switch or disconnect the power cord
Make sure that all the creel modules are tightly interconnected by means of the plates shown on the
picture of Paragraph 1.3 "System power supply" and on figure A below.
After any electrical maintenance work, make sure that the electrical box and the creel frame are
correctly connected to the protection earth system (PE clamp and plates to connect the various creel
elements).
During the system operation, the plexiglass sliding protections of DIAPER FEEDER devices, must be
kept closed.
After positioning the creel to final work zone, fix directly the feet to the floor through dedicated
fixing holes – Figure B (MATRIX CUBE (MCC) with feet).
Whenever a creel cleaning or maintenance operation is to be carried out at a height exceeding 2
meters, use exclusively a footboard, a self-stable ladder or a suitable lifting device.
Never lean a ladder to the creel and never try to use the creel frame to reach the top side of the
creel itself. →Falling hazard due to the movable creel, that leans on wheels – Figures C-D.
Prior to push the spool-holder carriage into the creel structure, make sure no other people is
present nearby the creel, who may have fingers or hands inserted along the path of the carriage.
