PIN masking

To prevent unauthorzed long-dstance calls, some PBX (prvate branch exchanger)
systems requre a PIN (personal dentficaton number) entry when dalng a num-
ber.
Your machne's PIN maskng feature helps you keep that PIN number prvate. Wth
PIN maskng actvated, you can dal a number plus a PIN, but the PIN wll not
appear n the journal, error message prntout, delayed command lst or TCR (trans-
mt confirmaton report). The PIN may contan up to eght characters ncludng the
* or # symbols. You can enter them from the numerc keys.
There are three possble PIN maskng settngs:
• Off — Deactvates PIN maskng. Any PIN you enter wll appear on the dsplay
• Mode 1 — Each remote fax machne has a PIN access code per department.
• Mode 2 — Each fax user has a PIN access code per department.
NOTE
If you select ether Mode 1 or Mode 2 and wll be usng the batch transmsson
feature, you must store the PIN access code wthn the approprate batch box.
Activating the PIN mask
NOTE
To use ths feature, passcode protecton must be actve. (See page 9-88.)
