Once your Matrox Iris E-Series is connected to a LAN with DHCP, you should
be able to browse to Matrox Iris E-Series. When both the PWR and USER LEDs
are green, your Matrox Iris E-Series has joined the network.
Matrox Iris E-Series is a network-aware device. Once connected to a network that
uses DHCP, Matrox Iris E-Series uses its own built-in DHCP client to obtain its
IP address from a DHCP server. Once your Matrox Iris E-Series has an IP address,
you can then access your Matrox Iris E-Series using either its unique name or its
IP address. Refer to the Automatic naming subsection for more information.
If your network does not use DHCP or you are using a peer-to-peer connection,
refer to Chapter 4: Your Matrox Iris E-Series without DHCP.

On a network that uses DHCP, eachMatrox Iris E-Series must have a unique name.
By default, the Matrox Iris E-Series DHCP client automatically uses a unique
name:
IRIS999999
The last six digits (last three bytes) of your Matrox Iris E-Series's MAC address
are used as the alphanumeric part of the name. This ensures that each Matrox Iris
E-Series has a unique name. Both the name of your Matrox Iris E-Series and its
MAC address are written on stickers on your Matrox Iris E-Series. This name
effectively replaces the IP address when you try to access your Matrox Iris E-Series.
❖ Throughout the documentation Iris Name is used whenever you should use the
name or the IP address of your Matrox Iris E-Series.
Note that you can disable automatic naming so that you can assign your Matrox
Iris E-Series a more meaningful name. For more information, refer to the Enable
AutoIP field on the Administration utility TCP/IP page of Matrox Iris portal
website.
