Powering your Matrox GatorEye with PoE

To power your Matrox GatorEye with power-over-Ethernet (PoE), perform the
following:
1. Connect your third-party I/O devices to the digital I/O and power connector of
your Matrox GatorEye using a connection module.
If you have purchased the Matrox Breakout Box module, use the
GT-CBL-PWRDB25* digital I/O and power cable and the Matrox Breakout Box
module, to make the connections.
We do not recommend using PoE to power your Matrox GatorEye when also
connecting to a Matrox Breakout Box module since this combination will not use
PoE; instead the Matrox Breakout Box module will power your Matrox GatorEye.
If you have not purchased the Matrox Breakout Box module or the
GT-CBL-PWRDB25* cable from Matrox, use a custom cable with an M12 17-pin
connector. For the pinout and a description of the digital I/O and power
connector, refer to the Digital I/O and power connector subsection of the Matrox
Iris GT connectors section, in Appendix B: Technical Reference.
2. Connect your network or your computer (peer-to-peer) to the standard network
M12 8-pin connector of your Matrox GatorEye. Use the optional Matrox
GT-CBL-ETH/5* cable, or if you have not purchased this cable from Matrox,
you will have to purchase one from a third-party.
Connect the M12 connector of the network cable to the 100/1000 BaseT
connector of your Matrox GatorEye. Connect the RJ45 connector of the cable to
the network connector of your network/computer.
3. Once connected, you need to find your Matrox GatorEye on your network, and
configure it so that it can communicate with your network or computer. For more
information, refer to the Finding and naming your Matrox GatorEye section, later
in this chapter.
