Each Matrox Iris E-Series has a telnet server. The telnet server allows you to access
the command prompt of Matrox Iris E-Series remotely. Through a telnet server,
you can manually start processes, run batch files, and execute commands. Error
messages (for example, MIL error messages) are redirected to a telnet console,
along with printf statements from applications running remotely, over the telnet
session. Telnet allows command line utilities to be used.

By default, Microsoft Vista does not include the telnet client, while Microsoft
Windows XP does.
To install telnet, perform the following. Note to install anything in Microsoft
Vista, you must be logged into the computer with a user account that has
administration privileges.
1. Open the Windows Control Panel and click on the Classic view link in the
sidebar.
2. Select the Programs and features utility. The Programs and features pane opens
inside the Control Panel window.
3. Select Turn Windows features on or off from the Task sidebar. The Windows
features dialog box opens.
4. Select the telnet client option and click on the OK button.
A dialog box appears, confirming the installation of new features.
